Intensive Classes & Immersion Workshops

Woman’s Art Club Cultural Center

Each month offers one 3-hour class and one 5-hour workshop

Intensive Classes 9am – noon Saturdays (May 16, June 6, July 11, August 15 & Sept. 19) Single class fee: $20

For serious beginners & intermediate artists. Build your skills in the fundamentals of professional line quality, rich tonal value & effective composition. Work from terrific well-lit subjects. Develop a more secure foundation for your paintings.
Immersion Workshops 9am – 2pmSaturdays (May 30, June 27, July 25,August 29 & Sept. 26) Single workshop fee: $30
Continuous drawing with a short lunch break. Time & space to grow and develop in any drawing medium. Work from photos or the still life. Benefit from ongoing evaluation and critique.

Charlie Berger is a Cincinnati artist & Mariemont resident who has taught drawing throughout Cincinnati,
most recently at UC’s School of Design, College of DAAP, and at the Art Academy of Cincinnati.
He truly enjoys working with creative adults, combining compassion, humor & insight to
help each person build confidence & develop their artistic strengths & abilities.

Bi-Okoto is “the only outstanding authentic African Dance Company in the tri-state area”. Their mission is to preserve, promote and share the rich cultural heritage of Africa and Africans using drums, music, dance & languages. They have earned a reputation as one of the country’s finest professional African traditional dance companies & cultural organizations, currently touring in 48 states in the US.

Bruce Neville Watercolor

Bruce’s work reflects a direct approach showing creative energy with his loose style & fresh color mixes. You will enjoy his classes where he begins each session with a demo. He teaches students of all levels, giving each student plenty of attention in drawing & painting the subject. Students will learn to adapt watercolor techniques to develop their own personal style.

A Signature member of the Cincinnati Art Club & the Ohio Watercolor Society, his work is shown in Mary Martin Gallery, Charleston, S.C.; Main Cross Gallery, Lexington, KY.; and Margaret Tvedten Fine Art, Harbor Springs, MI.

Beginning Knitting starts Monday Jan. 19

Six week Monday morning (9:30 – 11:30am) course for the absolute beginner with Toby Ganz. Learn to knit, purl, cast on, use circular needles, and more… while making an artful cowl to wear. Fee: $120

Beginning Cable Knitting starts Monday Jan. 19

Five week Monday (12:30 – 2:30pm) course for knitters ready to take it to the next level! Learn about reading cable charts & instructions, cable construction, knitting cables & bobbles and more with Toby Ganz…while making the boho cable knit hat shown at right.  Fee: $100

 

Make a Silk-to-silk Transfer Scarf

In just two hours, you will create a unique & beautiful scarf made from three castoff 100% silk men’s neckties that you bring to class. The patterns of the ties blend & mix in a patchwork effect that yields surprising & elegant results! Fee: $20 plus $5 to purchase “blank” silk scarf. Class held on Mon. Jan. 26 (6:30 – 9pm) andWed. Make a Felted Pin for your Valentine

Learn the technique of felting while creating a heart-shaped pin or a shape of your own design, with an embedded zipper for a silver beading effect. Materials kit supplied by instructor Susan Austin. Class held on Mon. Jan. 26 (3:30 – 6pm) and Wed. Jan 28 (7 – 9:30pm). Perfect for mother-daughter or girls night out. Fee: $20

You are invited to come learn the principles of flower arranging along with some of the tricks and tips of the profession.  Knowing all this will enable you to create your own arrangements in the home – for a door, an entry hall, a coffee table, a dining table, etc.—-that will last a week or more with proper care.

Holiday Floral Arrangement Demo

Nicky will demonstrate wreaths, topiary, and holiday table floral ideas. The basic framework will last 6 – 7 weeks and can be revised for a fresh holiday decoration. Cost: $25

Sat. Nov. 29, 10am – noon
Holiday Hanging Basket Workshop

Greens, berries, cones, ornaments, and ribbon combine to create a welcoming decoration outside your home. Cost: $60 (includes all materials)

Tuesday Dec 2, 10am – noon

Floral Demonstrations of both elegant and whimsical arrangements to brighten the home for the Christmas holidays. Cost: $25

Thursday Dec. 11th, 2 sessions: 2pm – 4pm & 7pm – 9pm
