Dale Park School is a historic landmark and a community fixture dating back to the founding of Mariemont. At a recent Town Meeting, a number of residents expressed very different ideas concerning the future for this classical structure after the new Mariemont School buildings are occupied at the beginning of the upcoming school year. Proposals have ranged from school administrative offices, a recreation center, apartments, condos, museum, church, multi-purpose facility, tear down and even relocation of the Village Administrative offices. Dale Park seems to be an attractive pink elephant that challenges even the most creative redevelopment ideas. Everyone that loves this charming piece of Mariemont history is concerned about its future. We need new direction now that the range of alternatives has had time to sink in.
