Featured Business: The Mariemont Barber Shop

There is a buzz in the air at the Mariemont Barber Shop, and it’s not necessarily from the clippers doing just that—buzzing—a 10 year old’s hair.  The boy is here with his dad, who is getting a deluxe shave and a trim.  In the chair next to him is a bridegroom, enjoying his “game day” haircut, while his best man, and the rest of his wedding party, wait to do the same.

Mariemont Barber Shop has been grooming generations of dads, sons, wedding parties, CEOs—even celebrities—since 1934.  It has been a fixture on the square almost as long as Mariemont Inn.  In its 79 years of operation, there have only been three owners.  A man named Hopewell established the business.  Furman “Mac” McFadden purchased the shop in 1954.  Current owner Ron Salzano, a native of Italy, became proprietor of Mariemont Barbershop in 1975.  Barber Brian Peter joined the Shop in 1996.  Eugene McMillan became a part of the team in 2005.

What’s new is actually old-style at the Mariemont Barber.  The men’s traditional shave, a staple of barbershops of yesteryear, is currently en vogue.  Once a man has one, he will see how there is nothing else like it.   Haircuts for kids and adults, beard trims, and head and neck massages are also available.  A full array of men’s styling products is available for purchase.

All three barbers are accepting new clients, but appointments are recommended.  It is rare that a walk-in will find an empty chair, especially on the weekend!  Call 271-7676 to schedule your appointment!

Featured Business: El Trio

El Trio, a family owned and operated restaurant that serves genuine Mexican food and wine at affordable prices.

The dream of the Hernandez brothers was to bring a taste of Mexico to Mariemont. Luis, the leader in this family enterprise, moved to Mariemont from South Carolina, because he liked the sense of community and convenience he observed in Mariemont. The restaurant opened for business on May 1, 2012, after a thorough planning process. The restaurant has an appetizing salsa bar with flavors that range from mild to very spicy and specializes in tortas which is a Mexican sandwich, quesadillas, fajitas, and awesome desserts. They offer great food at great prices in a pleasant setting for the entire family. They wish to thank the community for being so welcoming.
