The Official Flag of the Village of Mariemont

Recently, with the closure of

the US Bank Branch at Mariemont Square, the Bank gave one of the original Mariemont flags to Ron Salzano, the owner of the Mariemont Barber Shop. Ron states that many Mariemonters are unaware that the Village has a flag, and was surprise to find the amount of interest it generated hanging in the barber shop.

Historically, Mrs. Schwenkmeyer, a long time Mariemont resident and artist, designed the flag in 1965 and she made only a few copies. One hangs in the Mayor’s Chamber. After checking with the Mariemont Preservation Foundation, we are unable to identify the whereabouts of additional flags. The Mariemont Barber shop is a suitable home for the flag since the shop was founded in 1934 by Mr. Hopewell and has been in continuous operation ever since.
