Open Studio with Emma Teller

Come and share in the joy of still life painting with Emma Teller, in a new and dynamic painting experience with an emphasis on composition. Students will learn concrete tools and ways to apply the principles of good composition to their work, be it landscape, still life or figurative painting, and apply these principles to their still lives in class. Classes will include discussions on the principles of fine composition, the use of color and value as a compositional aid, the history of composition, how great artists used composition to emphasize and bring out their subject in their work as well as how to change a subject from life or a photo to better suit your compositional needs. While the core project of the class will be a focus on still life painting, the second part of the class will be an open studio, in which students wishing to bring their own work in for critiques and in-studio help are welcomed to do so. Course runs for six-weeks.
